In andere kweekbakken, over de serre verspreid, kweek ik in heel wat plantjes op van pompoen en courgette, suikermais, kool en lage boontjes. Van veel gewassen teel ik een rijke waaier aan rassen, en om die uit mekaar te houden etiketteer ik elk rijtje – of soms elk potje – met mesheftschelpen. Voor de veiligheid heb ik, zoals elk jaar, iets te veel plantgoed van een aantal gewasjes: fijn om uit te delen, te ruilen, …
Regelmatig water geven hoort er natuurlijk bij, en één keer per week bepoeder ik, met de handverstuiver, al dat jonge plantgoed heel lichtjes. Ik verstuif afwisselend lava– en basaltmeel, en telkens voeg ik hier ook een soeplepel bentoniet en gemalen zeewier toe. Zo krijgen de opgroeiende plantjes wekelijks wat extra mineralen en sporenelementen.
